Quesla is a unique exchange proejct that teams the creative efforts of worldwide educators in an interactive online project. Quesla is actually a very small llama (a curious questing llama) who is traveling the world in search of adventures to share with school children. She joined Alta Elementary in the fall when we had an active collaboration going with AustraliaQuest and the Summer Olympics. Her traveling companion, is Syd (an official Olympic mascot). Quesla was inspired by all the fun the buddies were having.
What makes this project special from other travel exchanges? Quesla is a trail blazer. She traveled with the MayaQuest 2000 team to Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. The proejct helped facilitate schools participation in the quest around the world. Upon her return, she immediately set off for Ecuador and Peru. Then it was Zimbabwe and South Africa. Next she is heading to Japan and plans are underway for next year. She will not be joining the Quest team for AmazonQuest, but she is planning on meeting up with them again for Greece in the spring. She should have some other fascinating stops before then. Join in the exploration, consider joining AmazonQuest, and possibly host a visit from Quesla in the future.
The project is designed in a way so that classes around the world can enjoy and participate even if Quesla never comes to their school. How much or how little each class does is totally up to them. Schools that host Quesla invite active communication about their areas while they host the little llama and will share their experiences through Web sites that are created.
Learning becomes truly fantastic when children actively become involved in the process. Teachers are encouraged to share and communicate through the project's eGroup. Student work will be updated throughout the project.
Dedicated to the discovering, sharing, and learning through the eyes of the future, our children,
