Cartoons by Peter Reynolds

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. definitely followed his North Star. How does his life inspire you on your journey?

He peacefully won freedom for black people and others. I will treat others as he did. If I want to change the way somebody thinks, I will follow Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I Have a Dream

Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that all the white people and black people would to be nice to each other and treat each other equally. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream that all people wouldn't say bad words to each other. They would treat each other with respect no matter what race they were. He cared about their hearts that was what was important

I have a dream also. My dream is to help all the people of the world. But I also would give money to all the people that don't have money. I may not be able to help all, but I can one person at a time. I have a dream that all people would be helpful. I have a dream like Martin Luther King, Jr. My dream is that all the white people, black people, Hispanic people, and all nations would be helpful and work and play together.

Martin Luther King, Jr. followed his star. He helped black and white people meet each other. I want to be the president of the United States of America. If I am president, I can also help people like Martin Luther King, Jr.

Marshall

These essays were written by students grades 1-5 as a short writing activity. The prompt for the activity was to compare Martin Luther King, Jr. to the class theme of the North Star and what their own journey might be. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. definitely followed his North Star. How does his life inspire you on your journey?

It is fun to see how students relate the theme of the North Star to other activities.
