Hi Gary,
In the best of all possible worlds I would agree with you. In fact, my
mouse ball problem has always been limited to 2 or 3 kids out of a hundred.
In virtually every case, the student had such poor attendance that engaging
him/her in anything was a real challenge. So why should I seal every mouse
for every computer for every kid? Simple. If the balls disappear who
suffers? The kids who want to use the computers properly (almost all) and
me (since I have to buy the replacements out of my pocket--no budget for
this stuff yet.)
I think you are generalizing a little too much. 97% is an A in most cases.
Brian's idea of using trackballs is good--except that the computers come
with mice and trackballs are extra. Once again, the problem is $$$$$.
Cheers.
