I'm cross posting a message from comp.lang.logo that was a reply to a
posting asking for ideas about the usefulness of using Logo with
elementary aged students. If you want to let Tom Woods (the original
poster) how you use Logo in an elementary classroom, please send email to
his personal address:

woods@moose.ncia.net

I don't think Tom is a member of this list, although I'm sending him a
copy of this message so he knows of its existance. The main reason for
my posting this message is I thought some of you might be interested in
hearing what is happening with Logo in the Netherlands.

Yes, I do since 1985. Kids of the age of 9 years can LOGO very well!
But we have a problem of organizing things (we have 3 computers for
240 children).
Here in the Netherlands we have a very good version of LOGO for
Windows: SUPERLOGO. It's supported by a very good book from which
children can learn LOGO themselves.
I think the big contribution to classroom learning is that the kids
have a concrete problem to discuss about. They learn to talk to the
point.
And of course there will be a bit of logical thinking. But I can't
prove it helps them with their maths.

I hope my English is good enough for you to read my reply.
