The [] is an empty list. It's likely that somewhere, somehow, an errant
character has found its way into your procedure(s). Retyping the program
will solve it, though that's not always convenient.
Instead, I've found that if you can open the file in a modern word
processor, then show hidden characters, you'll see the offending "smurch"
(an errant, non-printing character). The only non-printing characters you
want are spaces and carriage returns/linefeeds. You may need to check you word
processor's manual to find how it represents these characters.
Also, you'll have to save the "retouched" file in TEXT format, instead of
the word processor's default format.
