Q>> What sort of Macintosh do you need to run MicroWorlds comfortably ? I have
mainly PC experience and our school has 99% PC's. When I ask comfortably I mean
that don't give me the Macintosh equivalent of a PC 386 since MicroWorlds will
run on it but I've got time to make a cup of tea and drink it while MW is
loading, if you get my drift.
Well, I'm starting to think why not put in for mainly Mac's and say no to the
trend in my school where everyone seems to think they have to buy PC's because
everyone else has them. My thinking goes along these lines. There are several
Logo based packages that are only available on the Mac. People talk about them
here all the time and all I can do is look on with envy. I'm thinking of these:
*Logo
Object Logo
Hyperstudio
But then I want to get some laptops too and I believe that the PC laptops are
far cheaper?
For the robotics workstations (LEGO TClogo) I'll use my old PC's (XT's and 3
286's) with EGA screen.
One other question: Would I be able to hook in 9 or 10 Mac's to a Novell
network ? Surely yes?
Any helpful comments on these musings about the future of my room would be much
appreciated .... better to plan ahead rather than kick myself later. What I am
thinking of asking for is:-
1 CD ROM with scanner
9 - 10 computers for running MicroWorlds, *logo (?) Object logo (?)
These need to be networked so I can do communications (hooked to the Novell
network)
4 laptops for keener progammers to take home
5 robotic workstations (LEGO TClogo)
That would account for my $$. My main questions are what sort of Mac do I need
for MicroWorlds, what sort of Mac do I need for *Logo.
