That's interesting. I think the issue the teachers faced was not so much knowing that the right person sends the email, but that they wouldn't know the person in the first place. "Don't talk to strangers" needs to be tempered with judgement. Using it in a blanket statement for a school policy is a little paranoid, and leads to more opportunities missed than dangers avoided, I feel.
