Depends on what the purpose of the education is. If the purpose is to prepare one for a particular line of work then it would depend on what line of work is being prepared for. Higher level thinking or whatever you call it may actually get in the way of doing most of the dumb jobs that people must do to put food on the table and keep dry roofs over their heads. And being able to divide accurately and spell correctly may be worth a 10% increase in salary. And less airplane crashes which might be important even to you High Level Thinkers. Especially if you and/or yours are on the airplane. ------------------------------------- Another subject. Sort of. The educational consumers are demanding more rights and responsibilities and choices. And considerably richer learning environments. Hence you "educators" must do a much better job at explaining your ideas and services. To people that not only did not learn how to divide and spell but to tell you the truth do not even read very well. Let along do higher levels of cognition: analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
