Becuase Logo has mostly been used in education, especially for exploratory
learning, the priority for most designers has been on interactivity rather
than speed and efficientcy.

Object Logo for the Macintosh was interpretive, but also could compile.
It's no longer available.

Mach Turtles Logo for Windows, also interpretive, can compile stand-alone
applications and screen savers.

The Logo Foundation Web site (URL is below) maintains an up to date listing
of what's available in Logo software.
