The flip side for interpreters > is that they run slower than compiled native code, _BUT LOGO COMPILER > SYSTEMS HAVE BEGUN TO APPEAR_, and machines are always becoming faster. Becuase Logo has mostly been used in education, especially for exploratory learning, the priority for most designers has been on interactivity rather than speed and efficientcy. Object Logo for the Macintosh was interpretive, but also could compile. It's no longer available. Mach Turtles Logo for Windows, also interpretive, can compile stand-alone applications and screen savers. The Logo Foundation Web site (URL is below) maintains an up to date listing of what's available in Logo software. -Michael -------------------------------------------------------- Michael Tempel tel: 212 579 8028 Logo Foundation fax: 212 579 8013 250 West 85th Street michaelt@media.mit.edu New York NY 10024 http://el.www.media.mit.edu/logo-foundation/ --------------------------------------------------------------- Please post messages to the Logo forum to logo-l@gsn.org.
