I am a MicroWorlds user and lover. I wished my colleagues shared my enthusiasm, but most are Hyperstudio and Digital Chisel users. It doesn't help that most of the journals I read do not mention MicroWorlds when they list presentation programs. Family PC's Sept. '97 issue has an article "Matching Kids to Software" where they list the multiple intelligences and software to match. I kept thinking ....MicroWorlds works with all the intelligences, but it's not mentioned. It's not mentioned in Classroom Connect May '97 issue on student multimedia projects either. I like Hyperstudio, but I find MW much easier to teach to K-4 students. Plus they benefit when using LOGO. This summer my eight year old daughter created a diary and virtual pet w/ MW and she made two comments: 1. Computers only know what people tell them. 2. They should call computer lab - Math Lab or Reading Lab- because you don't learn anything about computers. At least she is getting the idea. Does anyone have any suggestions to interest other teachers in MW? Why MW instead of Hyperstudio, or are both appropriate at different levels? Thanks, Cindy --------------------------------------------------------------- Please post messages to the Logo forum to logo-l@gsn.org.
