I introduce Microworlds to teacher instead of Hyperstudio. I feel that more decision making and thinking skills are practiced with Microworlds blank screen..It encourages creativity and projects can look very different, whereas many Hyperstudio projects seem to have the same "feel" Also, once teachers are comfortable with using Microworlds for multimedia presentations, then it is easier to introduce the Logo programming language that is "behind the scenes" without introducing a seperate program. The only drawbacks that you may find are that 1) large "stacks"/ projects created in Microworlds need more desktop memory or the projects will be slow to open, close, and change pages, whereas Hyperstudio will run on machines wilth very little ram. 2) Hyperstudio will connect to a laserdisc. So it might be worth keeping a few copies of Hyperstudio, after using Microworlds, students could easily learn Hyperstudio if needed.
