     In defense of those who wish to use the computer as a tool in all 
forms of learning and not just as computer language I suggest one read 
the fun book "The Saber Tooth Curriculum".  While I feel programming is 
important, we cannot infinitely pile on more and more curriculum, exactly 
what has been happening in the US for many years.  It is better to have 
computers in every classroom and used as needed than to have computers 
only available in the computer lab and add an additional course to the 
curriculum.
