Surf to http://www.cyberramp.net/~jmul and follow the directions to
order Jim's fine book.

Also you may find this file of mine interesting. I mainly made it up
for homeschoolers and I have another similar one with math suggestions
if you want me to sent it to you. Dale

Logo is a low level, high level computer programming code where little
children and their grandpas and everyone else in between can cause
"turtles" to do interesting mathematical tricks on the computer monitor.
With colors and sounds and random commands. Whatever your imagination
can create. Including Fractals.

Below is a collection of some of my LOGO bookmarks. I have quite a few
more but this will get you started and you can find more by using the
included links and searching for LOGO in Yahoo.

The first three URL's have free software and/or instruction books. I
started with Brian Harvey's LOGO for DOS. But if you have windows you
will want to use the Softronix software. It is super! Don't forget
your local library for LOGO instruction books.

Be sure to write me if you get stuck. I am still a beginner(I spend too
much time participating in discussion lists) but I plan to get better
and it is lots of fun.

There is a very active LOGO Discussion group for teachers. Very
interesting because people all over the world are using the code. Some
in other languages. The two moderators of the Logo-L list are John St.
Clair from GlobalSchool Net Foundation and Michael Tempel from the Logo
Foundation.

Logo was created by Seymour Papert at MIT. One smart cookie! Be sure
to read his latest book, "The Connected Family" and his even more
interesting "Mindstorms" and "The Children's Machine."

I have MicroWorlds 2.0, PCLogo, Mach Turtles Logo and Brian Harvey's DOS
Logo but most of the time I use the free MSWLogo from Softronix.

You and your children and/or students have lots of learning and thinking
to do.

I have a 150MHz Windows 95, 1996 computer with 32 MB of memory and a
17inch monitor. So some of my comments may be biased toward my
particular equipment.

Have fun! Dale
