LOGO-L> MSWLogo - text in graphics area

I have a problem with MSWLogo trying to get the variable values and text
strings to appear on the graphics screen.
When using the PRINT command the text appears in the command area. I can't
find any other command to use and when I check the PRINT command in the
help it says the output will go to the active area. So maybe I need a
command to change the active area, but I couldn't find one that sounded
suitable. Is my assumption correct or is there an easier way??
