What you are doing in each area you describe is to use the computer as a medium in which to represent the ideas. When you talk of *programming techniques* you refer to teaching the techniques of process representation in the new medium. I have noticed a tendency to teach, and use, only the commands of Logo and not the operations. I find the latter the more interesting. What are your findings?
