All messages sent to the logo-l mailing list are supposed to be automatically sent to comp.lang.logo. All messages posted on comp.lang.logo are supposed to be sent automatically to my personal email account (I have a special email account to handle these messages, jcstclair@omsd.cerf.fred.org). I read the comp.lang.logo messages, delete all spam and messages originally posted to logo-l (so we don't get an endless loop of duplicated messages). I post all original comp.lang.logo messages to logo-list, which sends messages to the logo-l mailing list without sending them to comp.lang.logo (again this prevents duplicate messages from being sent to comp.lang.logo). >snip >1) Where's all the other/earlier entries in comp.lang.logo? I'm not a newsgroup reader so I don't know the answer to this question but there is an archive of logo-l messages at: http://archives.gsn.org/logo-l >2) Many of the entries in comp.lang.logo seem to be responses to inquiries, >but the location of the original inquiries isn't apparent. I don't know why there seem to be gaps in comp.lang.logo. Theoretically all messages sent to logo-l should be posted on comp.lang.logo. >3) Does that indicate that logo-l@gsn.org is a subscribable eMailing >process? I see that by sending >"unsubscribe logo-l" to majordomo@gsn.org, one can unsubscribe, but how to >"subscribe"? Yes, logo-l is a subscribable mailing list. Send a message to: majordomo@gsn.org and in the message type: subscribe logo-l Don't write anything else and don't sign the message. Some people prefer to participate in the Logo forum from their email account (logo-l) and some people prefer to participate from their news reader (comp.lang.logo). I think most people use logo-l but comp.lang.logo is open to the public so that's how we get new people involved like you. >4) Is comp.lang.logo the only NewsGroup for Logo matters? As far as I know it is the only newsgroup on Usenet. I think there is also a Logo forum on Compuserve and AOL, but I'm not sure. >5) Is logo-l@gsn.org the only eMailing address for Logo matters? As far as I know, yes. >6) Who/what is logo-l@gsn.org? Do either logo-l or gsn have a Web location? The Global SchoolNet Foundation (gsn) and the Logo Foundation are the proud sponsors of logo-l. GSN's web site is at: http://www.gsn.org and Logo Foundation's web site is at: http://el.www.media.mit.edu/groups/logo-foundation/index.html Both organizations are non-profit educational foundations. I'm glad you asked. BTW, if you have any problems subscribing or unsubscribing either Michael Tempel (michaelt@media.mit.edu) or I can manually subscribe or unsubscribe you. -John John St. Clair Global SchoolNet Foundation Technology Teacher moderator schl-sig-logo and logo-l Vina Danks Middle School http://www.cyberg8t.com/jstclair/jsc.bio.html Ontario-Montclair School District Ontario, California, USA --------------------------------------------------------------- Please post messages to the Logo forum to logo-l@gsn.org.
