Hello All, I hope the title of this message got your attention - but I mean it in all seriousness. I seek your opinions on this for two reason. Firstly because I'm about to embark on introducing Logo to 12 & 13 year olds at the school where I teach. Secondly, I'm writing an essay on Logo for a University assignment I need to be able to justify my teaching program to School authorities and logo non-fanatics. Maybe other educators will find the correspondence valuable. Is it enough to teach Logo because we intuitively believe it helps students understand Maths concepts better? Is it enough to spend time with Logo because we intuitively believe it helps students understand the way they think and learn? Is it enough to teach Logo because it will help students learn 'proper' programming languages later on? I'm sure that is the approach taken by some teachers with Logo... What evidence, if any, do any list subscribers have that Logo is more than just a fun programming language for youngsters to muck around with? Looking forward to your lively responses..
