I've also worked on digital pets project with a class of 13 and 14 year olds. The color, sound, and flexibility of the MicroWorlds environment are certainly better than what you;ve got on the Tamagotchis. It's a nice little project with some interesting limitations: 1. The real pets run continuously. Unless you program the Logo version in StarLogo you have to stop it when you want to use the computer for something else. 2. The appeal of these pets seems in large part to be that you carry them around wherever you go. Except in schools where kids have their own laptops, this aspect can't be mathced. Still, I found it to be a good project with a strong appeal, especially to girls. -Michael -------------------------------------------------------- Michael Tempel tel: 212 579 8028 Logo Foundation fax: 212 579 8013 250 West 85th Street michaelt@media.mit.edu New York NY 10024 http://el.www.media.mit.edu/logo-foundation/ --------------------------------------------------------------- Please post messages to the Logo forum to logo-l@gsn.org.
