OK, I've seen this discussion wander down the list. 
Question: do animals make mental models of the world?
If so, in what way might the mental models constructed by language-using, 
opposed thumb manipulating, children differ from these.
My answer own to this question suggests that neither the behaviourist nor 
constructivist/constructionist viewpoints are adequate.
