Re: LOGO-L> Ellipse Thanks, but....?

Gidday Evan,

Most children at an elementary (K - 6)level of schooling have difficulty
conceptualising many things that adults take for granted such as the
existance of other countries and how far away they are, that the sun is a
star that has been burning for millions of years (unless you are a
creationist?) that if people like us here in Australia are standing on the
top of the world how come all you Northern Hemisphere people don't fall
off???

Simplistic basic models of naturally occuring phenomena are sometimes all
that are required to provide the initial conceptual basis for further, more
sophisticated learning. Hence a simple model of planets orbiting the sun.

Apart from that I and many other teachers are also mere learners and
wouldn't have a clue how to program in MicroWorlds the concepts that you
suggest. I'm having enough troubles grasping the ellipse procedure.
(Although the vocal majority probably would be able to program at that
level)

I would be very happy if you could provide us with that expertise then all
it would require is for us to link the turtles to the
procedures....hopefully :-)
Evern better, may be others in the news group might feel especially
challenged to offer some solutions to the problems you have suggested.

Cheers Richard
