Hi Barbara,

You might find some use in the introduction to MicroWorlds programming I
wrote for my nephews, though it's probably on the young side for your
students. The reason I wrote it is because I was sure my nephews would hate
the MicroWorlds documentation, and would get little out of it.

The introduction I wrote gets kids started on writing their own very simple
games. It also gives them step-by-step instructions on how to run their
games on computers that don't have MicroWorlds installed. You can find it at

I'm not a teacher, but this sounds to me kinda like using a Webster's
Unabridged to get kids started on reading. "Good job reading the "A"'s,
class; now let's get started reading the "B"'s!"  ;-)
