Hi Barbara, I often start my students out with a unit on Geometry which gets them familiar with the turtle and eventually writing procedures. I have posted some of the handouts that I use in my classroom which you are welcome to print out and use. It's important to give the students plenty of time to experiment with each new handout that you give them. I make part of their grade "participation" which I define as experimenting with the Logo commands just learned in an assignment. It's particularly useful to have them make up their own procedures after they learn how to write a procedure.
