Bill, Erica is the GSN staff person who takes care of the GSN newsgroups and listservs, including logo-l. I reported to her the problem of some logo-l messages not showing up on comp.lang.logo. She installed herself as the moderator of logo-l for 2 days to monitor the path of the logo-l messages. I suspect that she accidently deleted the sender address info on your message and her name was put in place of yours. I doubt it will happen again. Sorry for the confusion. BTW, after investigating the flow of logo-l messages to comp.lang.logo, she discovered that seems to be a delay of some messages on their way from logo-l to comp.lang.logo which either occurs at Berkeley or the usenet. I have noticed in the past that some messages from logo-l show up on comp.lang.logo a week or 2 later. -John At 1:22 PM +0930 1/25/98, KERRB@Magill.UniSA.edu.au wrote: >This was mailed by me (Bill Kerr) not Erica Zubkoff. >John, > Is it possible to identify the nature of this problem. >-- Bill >_________________________ >From: IN%"erica@gsn.org" "Erica Zubkoff" 25-JAN-1998 03:36:54.41 >To: IN%"bh@CS.Berkeley.EDU" >CC: IN%"logo-l@gsn.org" >Subj: RE: LOGO-L> eliminating items randomly from a list > >Brian wrote:- >>An array is a preallocated, contiguous block of computer memory. >>In other words, you decide ahead of time that you need exactly 43 >>elements in the array, and you ask the operating system to find you >>a block of size 43 (of whatever you're going to put into the array; >>in Logo this would be 43 pointers to arbitrary data structures). > >In JavaScript there is the option of keeping arrays open ended, > >eg. you can write > >textArray = new Array(); > >rather than > >textArray = new Array(21); > >-- Bill Kerr John St. Clair Global SchoolNet Foundation Technology Teacher moderator schl-sig-logo and logo-l Vina Danks Middle School http://www.cyberg8t.com/jstclair/jsc.bio.html Ontario-Montclair School District Ontario, California, USA --------------------------------------------------------------- Please post messages to the Logo forum to logo-l@gsn.org.
